The OFFICIAL ELECTION RESULTS are in and thanks to so many hardworking and supportive friends - we have reached the finished line victorious!
Thank you for electing me, the first council member to represent City of San Marcos District 1, under the new voting by district process! For a copy of the district map, visit http://www.san-marcos.net/departments/city-clerk/district-voting.
Since November 6, we have been watching along with you as the Registrar of Voters counted a historic number of 1,173,924 ballots in San Diego County, including 3,777 from San Marcos District 1. To see official results, visit www.sdvote.com/results.
Despite the 30-day waiting period for ballots to be counted, we believe the wait is a minor inconvenience compared to the significance of upholding our democracy to ensure every vote is counted!
Looking back at our campaign, we are proud of our accomplishments:
- We sought to engage and turnout as many San Marcos District 1 voters as possible. We are excited to report that 3,777 votes were counted. With 5026 voting households in D1, we project a voter turnout of over 70%. Four years ago, voter turnout for the district during a gubernatorial election was 29%.
We ran an all-inclusive No Party Preference (NPP) grassroots campaign focused on people over parties.
We reached all 5,026 voting households in the district.
- We registered new voters and motivated hundreds who had been historically disengaged to cast their ballots before and on Election Day.
We had over 50 volunteers who joined the campaign to talk to community members, help with fundraising, and conduct election education.
We raised over $16,000 from nearly 100 individual donors.
- We participated in all five adjudication meetings with Michael Vu, Registrar of Voters, to review approximately 555 observer challenges to provisional envelope processing ballots from throughout San Diego County.
This election helped us to build power in the heart of San Marcos and together we will continue to engage every person in our community’s civic affairs!
We made history together and together we are turning a new page in the City of San Marcos.
This is what #BuildingPowerTogether looks like! We greatly appreciate all your support and look forward to working together to ensure every person enjoys a thriving life in our city.
We would like to invite you to our upcoming events to celebrate our accomplishments and welcome your input as we chart a path forward together.
